NEW YORK - Graj + Gustavsen (G+G, www.ggny.com), experts at identifying consumer and retail trends, announced today that they have been retained by EMME, the iconic full-figured supermodel and entrepreneur, for representation. Through strategic licensing partnerships, G+G will expand EMME's growing brand into women's apparel and accessories, with a focus on the full-figured woman.
Currently, the full-figured market accounts for $17.2 billion of the $116.2 billon women's apparel market. Together, G+G and EMME recognized this tremendous opportunity, and marketing potential, and teamed to work together to tap into this underserved market and create fashions for the woman with curves. With about 68% of the U.S. female population at size 12 or above, this provides an excellent marketing opportunity for EMME - a globally recognized body image advocate - to stage her unparalleled position into the apparel industry with her EMME® brand and best serve this market.
Working closely with EMME, G+G will develop and execute licensing and merchandising programs with best-in-class licensees and retailers to deliver fashion forward products for the full-figured women's market. The line will include a full range of sizes, with the focus of the business on sizes 12 and above, to include sportswear, activewear, outerwear, footwear, swimwear, intimates, lounge and sleepwear, and accessories. The market is ripe and excited about working with EMME, lending to G+G's active talks with major national and omni-channel retailers.
"When we met EMME we saw immediate synergy between her mission to make every woman feel beautiful no matter her size or age, and an opportunity that we had identified in the marketplace, and that is, to address the styling needs of over 100 million full-figured American women," said Scott Todd, the SVP Licensing and Strategic Partnerships of G+G.
"I am thrilled to have G+G on my side as I re-enter this fashion focused world with my own EMME® brand to ensure that women with curves are empowered and feel and look beautiful with apparel and accessories that cater to their needs," EMME continued, "I am drawn to G+G's creative, expertise, market knowledge, product vision, shared passion and ambition, and I know that we will have a successful endeavor."
As part of the announcement, Graj + Gustavsen's Scott Todd is the keynote moderator on a discussion today titled "Plus Size Fashion: Are You Missing a MAJOR Market Opportunity", where EMME is one of the featured speakers.
